What are the different types of cannabis seed?

Cannabis seeds come in three species: Indica, Sativa, and Ruderalis.

Indica plants grow squat with a lush foliage and nice compact buds that offer a relaxing high. Sativas strains grow taller with an uplifting and energetic high. Ruderalis strains are the shortest and have the unique ability of flowering automatically. Together, various landraces from each of these subspecies have been crossed, to create the thousands of cannabis seed varieties we see today.

How big are cannabis seeds?

Cannabis seeds range from 4-6mm long and 2-4mm wide. Sativa seeds are normally the smallest, but surprisingly produce the biggest plants.

How long does it take to grow cannabis seeds?

Cannabis seeds grow incredibly fast and take between 8-20 weeks to grow from seed to harvest. Ruderalis strains can finish in as little as 8 weeks and are excellent if you want a plant that you can turn around fast. Indica strains fall somewhere in the middle and take around 12-16 weeks. Whereas sativa strains take up to 20 weeks.

How should you store cannabis seeds?

To keep your marijuana seeds nice and fresh, you should store them in an airtight container and place them in a cool, dark, dry area.  If you plan to store your seeds for more than six months, it's best to keep them in a refrigerator, and maintain a temperature of between 6-8 Celsius.
