STRAIN TRAITS
THC Bomb Auto Seeds Overview
THC Bomb Autoflower, from the magicians over at Bomb Seeds, has been the Dutch seed company's best selling strain since its release in 2009. With huge bud development that packs a resinous punch and offers a pretty unique terpene profile, it's no surprise that growers from all around the globe love throwing these beans into the mix.
We've seen a meteoric rise in autoflowering genetics in the past couple of years. We’ve stocked the original and popular THC Bomb for a few years and now we are introducing the autoflowering version to our range. Not all autoflowering versions of super popular strains can live up to their photoperiodic namesakes. But thats not the case with THC Bomb Auto.
With all the characteristics that made the OG THC Bomb so popular (we are talking huge buds, massive yields, and even bigger flavors and potency), THC Bomb Auto is a strain worthy of a little more in-depth study.
THC Bomb Autoflower is an evenly split hybrid, with almost exactly 50% of both Indica and Sativa genetics. For it to be considered an autoflowering strain there has to be at least a slight percentage of Ruderalis genetics also thrown into the mix, but with Bomb Seeds keeping the exact lineage to themselves, it's a little difficult to know exactly what the ancestors of the fantastic strain are, or the exact genetic split.
What we do know, is that THC Bomb Auto is the creme-de-la-creme of the Bomb Seeds Autoflowering range, with incredibly dense bud formation and a short flowering time which allows for a full lifecycle of 8-11 weeks from seed to harvest. When it comes to yield, she anything but disappointing.
Can she match her photoperiod kin in the yield department?
Well, no - but no one expects her to. Autos are almost always going to smaller growing plants, but in all of the other key categories, she keeps right up. She's tasty, stanky, heavy-hitting, and easy to grow.
What are the effects of THC Bomb auto weed?
If the name doesn't give away the fact that this seed is a THC banger, nothing will. With THC potency topping out at around the 26 to 27 percent mark, it's almost certainly going to hit you like a freight train. Expect waves of creative euphoria, an uplifting mood, and plenty of heady relaxation.
CBD levels are minimal, but that doesn't mean this strain has zero medical benefits. In fact, due to its high THC levels, it can be extremely useful in the treatment of pain, insomnia, and stress relief. Patients suffering from long-standing chronic pain issues find THC Bomb Auto to be an effective option, and it has great relieving effects for sufferers of digestive issues.
This strain really does strike the balance that so many hybrids strive for, but sometimes miss. The effects are long-lasting, super enjoyable, and will leave you feeling uplifted, energized, and ready for the day ahead. Once the high mellows out, the Indica percentage kicks in and offers that full-body relaxation.
How to grow THC Bomb Auto seeds?
Like most autoflowering strains, THC Bomb Auto is an absolute dream for beginner growers. She works great in both indoor and outdoor settings, but if you are wanting to hit that max yield we recommend indoor grow rooms, with a little warmer and higher humidity levels than some other strains. Temps of 72 to 80 degrees F and a relative humidity level starting at almost 70% for seedlings seem to be the sweet spot. That humidity should be slowly lowered throughout the vegetative stage, and once she begins full flowering it is best to keep it at about 55% or lower.
In terms of yields, we are looking at 450-550g/m² for indoor situations, or up to 6 ounces per plant outdoors when grown in perfect environmental conditions. Organic outdoor growers can expect to pull anywhere from 2.5 to 4.5 ounces per plant. Although this is a balanced strain, it does usually show more of the Indica genetics in the growth pattern.
Flowering should begin around 4 weeks after the seeds have popped, and the whole run should finish in less than 11 weeks, with some phenos finishing up much sooner (63 days in some cases).
THC Bomb Auto should be started in the pot you intend to finish her in to reduce the chances of translation stress (3.5 gallons should be more than enough room)
THC Bomb Auto strain appearance and aroma
The fan leaves on THC Bomb Auto are fat little piggies, and while not fully Indica in appearance they do definitely lean in that direction. The buds are incredibly dense, and they are usually pretty tightly packed in the internodes. All of this put together is a recipe for bud rot, so you need to be on top of the humidity in the last few weeks of flower. It's also best to give this strain a light defoliation every week or so, but carefully and without removing more than about 15% of the fan leaves at one time.
Aroma-wise, she's a spicy little number. A mix of diesel and black pepper, with hints of citrus that come out later in the flowering process. It's nice to see seed companies moving away, ever so slightly, from the pure diesel hit that has dominated the scene for quite a while. The dominant terpenes are caryophyllene, alpha pinene and humulene.
MSNL Editors Verdict
THC Bomb Auto may not be everyone's cup of tea (some cultivators still hold onto the old thinking that autos cant stack up to photoperiodic strains - totally untrue in this day and age), but we honestly love this one. Bomb Seeds have down a downright amazing job of keeping the key characteristics from THC Bomb on full display, all while cutting the growth time down dramatically.
Is it the exact same plant? No, of course there are some small differences, but the potency is anything but lacking, and the yields are pretty surprising. The aroma delights, and it's really refreshing to have a peppery option available in your stack of curing jars!
What does THC Bomb Auto taste like?
As with most top-class strains, it's a bit of a waste to dive headfirst into THC Bomb Auto without first letting her cure for a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks (longer is better). Curing ensures the maximum potency, and once she's done you can expect a flavor that has been described as 'diesel fuel meets lemon meringue'. Quite different from the aroma, but still excellent.
She starts out a like dank and dirty, but quickly rounds out into that key lime pie flavor that is hard to beat. There's also a light earthy aftertaste that adds to the overall experience, and while it's not the sweetest smoke in town or the smoothest option we have ever woofed down, she's a pure pleasure to blaze.
Overall, THC Bomb Autoflower is a strain that takes all of the best aspects of her photoperiodic sister and wraps them up in a package that's ideal for novice cultivators and experienced pros alike. Highly recommended!
